Dear ones in Christ,
A quick look through your Web site impressed me deeply.  Your zeal and desire to serve the Lord as effectively as possible is highly commendable.  Also, so much useful material!  Congratulations and God bless you richly!
However, please, visit my web site www.christianmessage.gr and read under Miscellaneous a brief note about monasticism placed there.  I would very much appreciate an answer to my position!  Thank you.
In Christ,
Markos B., Pastor, Evangelical Baptist Church (Greece)

I found your prayer web site, and although I have not completely gone through it, I am impressed with what the Lord has led you into.  I was a Foursquare minister for 30 years and have been led by the Lord into the Anglican Mission in the Americas, which is part of the Anglican Communion worldwide, and is Bible believing and evangelical.  I was looking for a web site for daily prayer when I came across yours.  I have always been impressed by Celtic Christian spirituality especially as practiced by Columba and Patrick, etc.
I will check out your web site more...
Blessings,
Jim O.+

I very much appreciate the link that you did at the beginning of Advent to my Advent liturgy                                                                                                           I just wanted to let you know that a number of people have contacted me as a result of that.  I am not sure if you know that I have also done some other liturgical videos for Lent and Easter.  Here are the links for those on my blog:

Many blessings on your work.  I appreciate all the resources that you have on your site.

All peace of the Father be with you:
My name is *****, I am 39 and live in *****.  I was ordained to the priesthood of the Arian ***** Church (not to be confused with Aryan racial groups) named after Bishop Arius of Lebanon.  I have left the Church but still do my priesthood.  I left because of the Dogmatic way the church is going.  I love the Lord very much and I am very impressed with the Monastic order you have created and the calling God has given.  I would like to start a brother order to yours here in *****.  We would follow your constitution but would be out in the world.

Scripture would be the sole basis of the order, for all of us, men and women alike to participate in our Royal Priesthood as Christ being our Bishop.  We would be in full communion with each other and would welcome all Christians, form a unity in Christ to try and better the world.
Yours in Christ,
Fr. ***** (*****)
Reply from The Prayer Foundation : Our Statement of Faith states our Christian orthodoxy in the beliefs we hold, such as the Trinity, Deity of Christ, Inerrancy of Holy Scripture (which is the Word of God), and so forth.  We require acceptance of all of these beliefs of anyone involved with our ministry in monastic affiliationArian doctrine denies these Biblical truths and therefore does not fall within the pale of orthodox Christianity as held by all orthodox Christian Communions at all times in the past 2,000 years, whether Protestant, Roman Catholic or Eastern Orthodox.
Our concern would be with your personal orthodoxy as to historic Christian beliefs and teaching (see our Statement of Faith and the Nicene Creed).  We would recommend that you become involved with a Biblically-centered Evangelical church.
Some good books on basic Christian teaching and historically held and accepted Christian beliefs that we recommend to you to read and study would be: "Mere Christianity" by C. S. Lewis, "Basic Christianity" by John Stott, "Know What You Believe" by Paul E. Little, "So What's the Difference?" by Fritz Ridenour, and "Kingdom of the Cults" by Walter Martin.  Two Christian Radio Programs presenting basic historical orthodox Christian teaching (doctrine) that we would suggest listening to would be The Bible Answer Man and Thru The Bible (with Dr. J. Vernon McGee).

But perhaps the most appropriate book that we could recommend would be the excellent book on basic Christian doctrine: "On the Incarnation", which was written specifically to refute the Arian doctrinal errors of the teachings of Bishop Arius.  Written probably before 313 A.D. by Athanasius, Bishop of Alexandria, (Athanasius was present at the composing of the Nicene Creed, and the Athanasian Creed is named after him).  This book is so generally considered by all orthodox Christian Communions to be a statement of historical Christian orthodoxy, that it was translated and edited by a member of a Roman Catholic religious order, has an introduction written by the Protestant Anglican C. S. Lewis, and is published by an Eastern Orthodox Seminary (St. Vladimir's Press).

  • Athanasius pointed out that Bishop Arius' main error was the teaching that Jesus Christ was just a created being, not God the Son, a Divine Person of the Trinity, existing from all eternity, as the Bible clearly teaches (John 1:1-3).
  • We also disagree with the teaching of the modern Arian "Church" that you were ordained in, that Holy Scripture is "full of mistakes".  We of The Prayer Foundation , in holding to the teaching of historic Christian orthodoxy, believe the Bible to be the Inspired Word of God, Inerrant in the original autographs.

These two doctrinal errors are familiar to many Christians,  not because they have necessarily heard of Bishop Arius, but because for the past 100 years these same Arian teachings have been adopted and promoted by the well-known Jehovah's Witnesses organization.  As Solomon wrote, "There is nothing new under the sun".  Even the secular world has the "proverb" of Santayana: "Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it."

According to "The New Advent Catholic Encyclopedia", Vol. 1, Article on "Arius"; Bishop Arius was believed to have come from Libya (not Lebanon as you have stated).  We quote: "Arius: An heresiarch...died 336.  He is said to have been a Libyan by descent...He was condemned at Alexandria in 321 by his diocesan in a synod of nearly one hundred Egyptian and Libyan bishops.  Deprived and excommunicated, the heresiarch fled to Palestine.  He must have been of great age when, after fruitless negotiations and a vist to Egypt, he appeared in 325 at Nicaea, where the confession of faith which he presented was torn in pieces.  With his writings and followers he underwent the anathemas subscribed by more than 300 bishops.  He was banished into Illyricum.  Two prelates shared his fate, Tehonas of Marmarica and Secundus of Ptolemais.  His books were burnt.  The Arians, joined by their old Meletian friends, created troubles in Alexandria."

The Bible clearly teaches the Deity of Christ: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God...And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the  glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."  -John 1:1,14.  "For in him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily."  -Colossians 2:9.

We also do not understand your choice of your email address, which contains the words "sufic priest".  This refers to a type of Islamic mysticism (Sufism).  What does this have to do with Christianity?

Fr. *****'s Response/Rebuttal: You have no idea of history, not even a clue.  I reached out and was slapped down.  Look into history and you will see that Constantine was baptized by an Arian Bishop.  Your brand of Christianity is very heretical, but of course you being the blind leading the blind, you do not see it.  You put everyone down who does not believe as you, as Christ said: you are whited tombs full of dead men's bones.

Born again...I don't think so.  I do not need to be a part of an Evangelical church, I follow the true Bishop which is Christ.  I know the truth, too bad you reject it.  Until you look at the truth of your beliefs, don't call anyone else heretical.

Editor's Note: "Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily I say unto thee, Except a man be born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.  ...Marvel not that I say unto thee, ye must be born again."  -John 3:3,7 (for information regarding how to receive Christ as your Lord and Saviour, see our webpage: Plan of Salvation).

Monk Preston,
Greetings, and may God continue to shine His glorious light upon you and your organization.
I just returned to California about a week ago from Australia.  I plan to return there permanently between six months and a year from now.  My chosen field of study is Historical Theology, and the planned subject for my Doctoral Thesis is: "The Emergence of Protestant Monasticism in the 20th Century".
I believe that...your group...(is) doing some marvelous work.  In fact, I would like to some day see the creation of a Prayer Foundation Monastery in Australia.  I think it would be a truly marvelous location for such a monastery.  As for now, I just want to say thank you, for a job well done, and wish you continued success.  I will keep you and your group in my prayers and I ask God's blessings on all.
Rev. Philip E. (California/Australia)

After so long I have, by God's grace, stumbled across your door.
Where have you been or where have I been?
Many times I have told persons that my calling is to encourage people to deepen their prayer lives, to grow in the intimacy of their relationship with God---Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  I am among those who question if we had missed our path by not being a member of a monastic order.  I have spent half days and one overnight at St. Bernard's Monastery in Alabama.
I am an ordained minister in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, who are proud of their Celtic heritage.  I have been much in the Nazarene Church, my wife's heritage and much blessed by this association.
Last fall I wrote out and presented a dramatic reading on the life and practice of Brother Lawrence.  For this I had my wife Pat make for me a monk's robe. I just asked her and she confirms that I am a monk at heart, to which she added, of course no one will understand.
I am a vital and young 68 yrs old.
I am praying about associating my self with you.
Please put me on the monthly Newsletter list, and the intercessor-prayer warrior list
I am enjoying reading page after page of your site.  I already feel more complete knowing there is a place where I am understood and accepted as I am.

Dear Monks,                                                                                                  Thank you for your reply to my e-mail.  There has been so much information regarding the subject of end times, I am not absolutely sure about any given scenario.  I do however believe in the word of God and what it says.  With all the differing tribulation theories around, it can get confusing.  I am glad to connect to a ministry who seeks God where He says to seek Him---in His Word.  Thank you for your answers and I believe I will just stick to what the Bible say's about the end times.  Thank you again for your thoughtful analysis of my question, it is appreciated.                                                                       Sincerely,                                                                                                      Wendy R.
