A lot of your Recommended Books are fantastic...

I totally respect your stand in recommending certain books and authors.  I am glad you are aware and that your decisions are prayerfully made.

I would be interested in joining your Lay Monastic order.
Briefly: I have left a Benedictine Episcopal Order after 6 years (and just weeks shy of taking my Final vows).  I am looking for a place to continue practicing my vocation, in other words a ministry where my vocation can flourish.  I am currently resident in Virginia, married, with two beautiful kids. Have a great job which is 5 minutes from my home and 5 minutes from my church.  I lead regular Daily Offices in the church, as well as being a member of the monthly healing prayer service.

My rector pointed me to your site as it seems your focus on prayer and solid Biblical teaching might provide me with a place of shelter and where I can grow the (meager) spiritual gifts given me: healing prayer, teaching/leading retreats as well as spiritual direction.

Now, I am familiar with monasticism but your combination of Celtic and Franciscan is also interesting.
Blessings of Peace,
Leo (Virginia)

Interesting web site.  And an interesting way to advocate Protestantism - in a  framework that appears rather Catholic
Christ prayed that his followers be one.  Protestant, Catholic, Orthodox -  these are separations that have hindered and often prevented spread of the gospel message and the love of Christ.  I pray that someday the churches will unify under the banner of Christ and once again become one universal and Catholic Church.  Only then will Christians be able to focus on spreading the good news to non-Christians, rather than spend so much time and energy in disagreement amongst themselves.
God be with you.                                                                                           Dennis N.

Comment from The Prayer Foundation : We believe that no Protestant Church can save you, no Catholic Church can save you, and no Orthodox Church can save you.  We believe that only Jesus Christ can save you.  We are advocating a "conversion experience": a personal relationship with Jesus Christ for all people; and for those who have already received Christ as their Lord and Saviour, a closer and deeper communion with God through growth in their prayer lives.

"To know the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit---the Triune God---we must know Christ, our 'one mediator', 'the way, the truth, and the life'.  Let us first make certain that we 'know Him' by receiving Him as our personal Lord and Saviour.  Let us continually learn about Him: 'study to show that we are approved unto God...rightly dividing the word of truth'---'All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:'---let us 'walk with Him' and 'abide in Him'.  Let us 'be conformed to His image'---and finally and ultimately, by his grace let us be with Him throughout all eternity".  -Monk Preston

We have been given a vision of providing a place of rest, renewal and respite for missionaries returning from the field and providing training to new missionaries, with the "side mission" of getting equipment to missionaries who need it.

One of the great things about our being part of the Knights of Prayer is that it has, after 30 years, brought us together in prayer; a weak area in our lives for almost 30 years. Now we pray the evening "hours" together almost every night. Two weeks ago we began the next step in our commitment, and began praying at 9:00 PM (Central time) on Saturday for the requests on the Prayer Foundation's Prayer Chain. We have been listening to Dr. McGee as much as possible and have also been lifting you both and the Order up in prayer daily.

We are currently looking for a suitable house for our ministry to missionaries and training program, in the country and large enough for our living and work, as well as to have 2-4 missionaries staying with us.  ...pray that God would lead us to the right place for this ministry He has called us to, in the country but close enough to church and work, where everything will fit and that we can afford. We want to start a small group fellowship in the new location, which we would like to invite other Minnesota Knights of Prayer monks to take part in, but that is down the road a ways.

...I pray that our work and ministry as part of the Knights of Prayer Monastic Order will be glorious to our Lord and Savior and beneficial to missionaries from the world over. "The Deer's Cry" is playing on the Internet radio as I finish this up.
Blessings,
Monk Hans (Minnesota)

Free Audio Christian Book of the Month.                                             This month is fiction by Tolstoy.  I think last month was E. M. Bounds (see: Best Sellers at Christian Audio.com).

Dear Monks,
Thank you for the wonderful (and beautiful) newsletter.  I have long been a reader of your web site, and have been blessed many times by the writings there.  I wanted to take just a few moments to send you my thanks, and prayers of blessings and peace.

Dear Brother Monk (Preston),
I liked the piece you wrote in our last newsletter about How to Pray the Psalms.  It was timely and well written.
Yours in prayer,

I see your interest in Celtic monasteries and monasticism at the time before being conformed to the Roman Catholic church.
You also seem to have oblates living here in Florida.  I am curious as to how many of them know about what I myself had just found out about, that is a replica of an Irish monastery or castle located 3 miles north of Saint Augustine, Florida.  I found a website.  It is called Castle Otttis with 3 t's, and it looks like an interesting place to tour.  I think I will plan to visit it soon.  Perhaps some of your oblates can also visit if they have not already provided you with information about this place, or perhaps if you wish I could possibly provide some photos after my visit (although the website has gorgeous photos on it: www.castleotttis.com).
Thanks for your time and God bless,
Don (Florida)

Greetings.  ...about joining Knights of Prayer.  I have read the Statement of Faith, etc. ...I am currently an oblate with...but am not sure this is quite the fit.  It may simply be me, for it is a good order for the lay person.  But I am interested in the differences that may exist.  The seeming emphasis on prayer is what is really drawing me to interest in your order.                                                                                                 It's about prayer without a bunch of other subjective requirements.        A true site for true lay people.  One can pray anywhere, anytime.  Oblate orders for the lay person often still require what only a full-time religious vocation could allow time for.  But I can pray, and God works when we pray.
Keep it up!
Thank you.

Dear Monks of The Prayer Foundation , Greetings,
My name is Paul.  I have contacted you before, a couple years ago.  I have visited your website many times since then.  The desire to lead a life of prayer, simplicity and evangelism has only grown stronger.  I am currently serving in the U.S. Navy, but will soon be a seminary student at Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, MO.

I want to say that your website is fantastic!!  It is loaded with GREAT information and I like the daily Scripture reading calendar and the way you use the Psalms for prayer.  Monk Preston, your testimony is completely inspiring.  I have felt like doing that so many times; selling all I have or giving it away and just leaving, trusting on the Lord to take care of me and preaching the Word.  I am married and have two children, so I can't do that, but I do always trust in the Lord to provide for us.

Tonight I watched Brother Sun, Sister Moon.  I have seen it before, but understood it better this time.  What St. Francis wanted is just what your community is doing.  I am interested in becoming a Monk.  If I could, I would dedicate my whole life and time to a monastic community.  John Michael Talbot, who I have had communication with recently, does have a monastery in Alabama that includes celibate men and women AND families.  I thought that was neat.  But, since I am not a Roman Catholic, that won't happen.

I would like some more information about becoming a Monk, a partner in your cause.  I would stay up all night checking out your web site, but I have to get to sleep.  I am deployed to ***** currently, and I have watch very early in the morning.  I hope to hear back from you and I appreciate any information you can offer.  May God bless you.

Paul (*****)
