Greetings in the name of our
Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ!
I was poking around the other day looking for oblate groups, and I think
I found you through typing Franciscan oblates. I have been a
lay sister in my heart since I became a Christian in 1973, and always wished there was
some order I could join so it could be official. I was thrilled to
find
your website a few weeks ago and have since been praying about whether I
should become a monk in this
way, and I think the answer I'm getting is
"yes".
My name is Denise, and I am an evangelical missionary in Japan.
I've
been teaching at Christian Academy in Japan, a school for
missionaries'
children, since 1981. I teach elementary music and private flute
lessons
and accompany the Middle and High School Choirs. I also attend a
Japanese church where I am the adult choir director and an organist. As a
musician myself, I also perform in various groups for evangelistic outreach.
My most recent "group" is a solo handbell player and myself (flute).
We perform classical, contemporary Christian, and Japanese folk music and give
testimonies and Bible messages.
I was interested to read about your order. I've been doing the
same kind of "disciplines" for years, partly as a result of Inter-Varsity
training and seminary (Regent College in Vancouver,
B.C.), partly as a result
of living in a missionary and Christian community, and just because I am an
organized and liturgically oriented person. I think it's exciting that other
evangelical Protestants are doing these things as well.
The more I read your site the more I do think my
goals are very similar to yours. (I am) very interested in doing daily
devotions and Daily
Offices and in intercessory
prayer. I will tell you more about what God has done in my
life next time. All praise and glory to Him!
Anyway, I'd love to be an official monk.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Denise O., Elementary Music Specialist (Christian Academy in Japan)

I am a born-again Christian and found your Site when
I did a search for "praying the hours".
What I liked most was, well, of course the daily prayer schedules.
But, also the "growing in Christ" study and the movie lists.
And I was thoroughly impressed with the steps to salvation.

What a pleasure to spend time at your website.
I was looking up verses to encourage me to pray more and your site came
up...
We just got back from a visit to Ireland and were so inspired when we
visited the various High Crosses, Round Towers, and ancient
churches...very easy to feel the Holy Spirit and the revival St.
Patrick brought...

Thank
you so much! I just love that tune ("Brother Sun").
I was in St. Peter’s square to bring in the new millennium at midnight
January 1, 2000 and I was so surprised after the Pope’s blessing that
the crowd spontaneously burst out singing that piece in Italian.
It was so beautiful, as if it were all of Italy’s theme song.
Thank
you again and God bless you.

The
Theme Song from the Film, Brother
Sun, Sister Moon:
Lyrics
by
Donovan

BROTHER
SUN
C F C
Brother sun and sister moon,
Am F C
I seldom see you, I can't hear your tune;
C F C
Preoccupied with selfish misery.
Brother wind and sister air,
Open my eyes to visions pure and fair,
That I might see the glories around me.
C Am F C
I am God's creature, of Him I am part,
F C
I feel His love awakening my heart.
Brother sun and sister moon,
Often I see you, I can hear your tune;
So much in love with all that I survey.
I am God's creature, of Him I am part,
I feel His love awakening my heart.

I think that what you are doing is great! You
are in my prayers and I hope the Lord prospers the
work of your hands!
Peace be unto you! Shalom!

Dear
Monks,
I am back from China. I will be sending
you two reports within a week or two.
Our brothers and sisters in China never fail to amaze me. Imagine
if
you will a church that seats 2,500 people. Now imagine that church
filled to overflowing. Okay, got the picture? Now add three
Sunday
serves filled to overflowing. That is the open church in *****,
China.
Standing room only!
China is a truly amazing place. Our God is moving there.
I will be sending you a more complete report with in a few weeks,
after have had a chance to re-enter life here.
May our Father bless you all,
Monk William
