My Brothers and Sisters in Christ Jesus,
I have just discovered your web page and I am intrigued.

I represent an Old Catholic/Orthodox denomination (its been around, under this name, for about 65 years) which also has a strong Protestant component. See: www.cccint.org  for a better feel of what we are about.  The motto mentioned in the web site: "Unity in essentials, Diversity in nonessentials, and in all things Charity" is something that we, truly, strive to adhere to in our denomination.

Basically we are mostly Catholic in nature, but beyond that we believe that if a person believes in the essentials of Christianity, and has a relationship with our Lord and Savior, they are our brother or sister in Christ and we need to treat them and associate with them as such.  When I write essentials here, I am referring to the essential beliefs for salvation, not the essentials of catholicity.

I have been looking for a way to increase and enhance the prayer life of our clergy and laity. Upon finding your site, I feel that Divine Providence may have directed me there.

I met Paul and Carol at a Celtic Festival in Elizabethton, Tennessee a little over a year ago.  I was attracted to their booth by Carol's beautiful harp playing and struck up a conversation with Paul about Celtic Christianity.  I was born again in 1963 in Hampton, Virginia and as I've matured in my faith I've really developed an appreciation for the devotion and personal witness that was so evident in the lives of the early saints.  As I've explored my Celtic roots, I've become especially appreciative of the lives of men like Saint Patrick and Saint Columba.  The values of Celtic Christianity that Paul talked about really fit into place with what the Lord was already doing in my heart, and it's really made a difference in my life.  My personal prayer life and witnessing have taken on renewed meaning and I'm experiencing a deeper sense of joy and peace.  I'm working through the Growing in Christ curriculum and participating in the 24-hour prayer ministry each morning between 4:00 and 4:30 Eastern Time.  I really enjoy getting up early before the day gets too far ahead of me.  The materials on the Prayer Foundation web site have been really helpful.  Thank you so much.

I'm happy to hear that Paul and Carol have been working in England.  I bought a copy of "Celtic Christianity: Yesterday, Today and for the Future" when I met Paul, and he signed it "Hear ye the Word of the Lord, O ye nations, and declare it unto the isles afar off..."  It sounds like he's taken that personally to heart.

Wishing you the Peace of God and His Richest Blessings,
Tom C. (Maryland)

My name is Ben and I am a sophomore at Moody Bible Institute.  I am a Pastoral Studies major who plans to also attend a seminary after college.  I have been studying the history of Monasteries in class and I feel God’s calling on my life to take some significant time to seek after Him and Him alone.  I am currently 20 years old and grew up in a loving Christian home.  I would like more information on living as a Monk at your monastery temporarily between semesters at school (winter or summer break).            Thank you so much for your time and help.                                                         In Christ,                                                                                                       Benjamin (Chicago)

Reply from The Prayer Foundation : We have only the greatest respect for Moody Bible Institute.  It is one of our favorite Christian schools.  We consider Dwight L. Moody (its Founder) and R. A. Torrey (its first President) to be two of the greatest heroes of the Faith.

What you are speaking of is exactly one type of service that we want to provide for Christians like yourself.  At this time it looks like it will be another year before we are moved to a new (larger) property and able to offer temporary residency.  We will post on this web site any changes in our living status as they occur, and as this service becomes available.
