Gifts / Contact Us 9/24/03__________________________________________________ Dear Monk Preston, I have decided to commit Wednesday mornings to pray for you and The Prayer Foundation ™. Currently, I mostly pray for the general needs of the monastery and the spiritual growth of the monks. I have offered a few specific requests, but sometimes it is difficult to pray without more knowledge and awareness. If you can, please send me some specific requests that deal with The Prayer Foundation ™ and its Mission and Goals. Psalm 1 teaches that the righteous man will accomplish whatever he sets his hand to do. I pray for the success of The Prayer Foundation ™ and the sanctification of the monks who are devoted to its mission. One day, I hope to be able contribute financially, since money is crucial to maintaining a monastery. I look forward to the day when monasteries are once again centres of higher learning, training young men to fight the good fight through all the world.
The Lord make His face shine on you, And be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance on you, And give you peace. David H. (Georgia)

from The Prayer Foundation ™
: What you are
praying for now for us is what we most need, and we are very grateful
for your prayers.
Other
specific needs would be:
That many Christians be brought into a
deeper prayer life through our ministry. That many people come to
receive Christ through our ministry. That our ministry would
reach ever greater numbers of people to accomplish these two
callings of ours. For the finances to be able to expand
this ministry and obtain larger facilities for the purpose of
greater public outreach. For the health of the monks here, so that
we can continue to minister. For many people to receive Christ
through Monk Bob's evangelism ministry.
Thank you again, and may the Lord
bless you as you serve Him.
9/20/03__________________________________________________ I
was just searching for information on Cuthbert
of Lindisfarne, because I had seen a movie on him and the
cathedral of Durham, which is a UNESCO world heritage site. Then I
found your site and immediately felt as if I were at home. I am
very agreeably touched in my soul. 9/17/03__________________________________________________ Dear Monk Preston and Brothers in Christ, Upon my first visit to your web site, you cannot imagine what thoughts scurried through my head. I knew it had to be a joke, because I couldn't find any glaring doctrinal errors with the Statement of Faith or the Plan of Salvation. Everything seemed sound and true, but what was the problem? The problem was that I couldn't believe that Christians were behind this; it was so real, so needed, and yet seemed so impossible. After reading as many pages as I could, I realized that The Prayer Foundation ™ isn't anything new. It has been around for centuries, and now somebody has taken the burden of making it fruitful. In an age where a fractured Church is attacked from every direction (mostly from within), such focus is essential if we are to survive for the next generation. I remember when I was much younger, I was drawn to monasticism because of the purity, devotion, and sacrifice required. But I didn't want to be a monk for my whole life; I wanted to learn and be trained so that I could be a better warrior for Christ. If The Prayer Foundation ™ had been around when I was a teenager, I would have sold my possessions and joined you. Now, I am married with a family, but the quiet devotion of a monk is what guides my studies and prayer time. I know so many Christian young men who would thrive at your monastery, and are only waffling through life because they have not been challenged where they need to be. I subscribed to your Newsletter and will stay updated with the Prayer Requests, and will endeavour to spend fifteen minutes per week in intercession for you, Monk Linda, Monk Bob, and the rest. It is refreshing to see men of God such as you, being used in such a powerful way. May God bless you and all that you set your hand to accomplish. Your brother, Dave H. (Georgia) Is there anything of which one might say, See this, it is new? Already it has existed for ages which were before us. 9/12/03__________________________________________________ I have read your web site pages and feel I have found in you, a group who believe as I do, and want to learn about and share Christ in a very special "monastic" way. I have felt a strong calling to the lay ministry for some time. ...from a spiritual perspective, I have been floundering around attempting to find my place according to God's will. I have told my wife that if something happened to her, I would go to "monk school". That was partially in jest. However, the call to serve God has always been there. Your monastic alternative as a Lay Monk is a way I could "have my cake, and eat it, too", so to speak. The lifestyle is more disciplined than I have been, even though I have been "born again" as a Christian for more than 38 years. I attend an evangelical church, and I believe the Bible to be the one and only inspired Word of God. In this very perverse and spiritually deprived world we live in, I believe God is calling those who will listen to pray for revival and healing. Enclosed find a $30.00 donation to your ministry. I am requesting to be Registered as a Postulant (Oblate) Lay Monk in your Knights of Prayer Monastic Order and receive the Monk Certificate & Card. I have down-loaded the Growing In Christ Monastic Training Series from your web site and have been practicing it. I believe it is time for me to take this step. I, too, have always felt I was "a monk in my heart." Sincerely in Christ, Thomas (Minnesota) 9/11/03__________________________________________________
Thanks for your Newsletter,
it's great!
I will be sending some money for a DVD
at the end of the month; Peter
& Paul. I meant to send it earlier but I lost my job
through ill health. I'm okay now.
Vincent (London)
