Athens, Corinth, Thessaloniki, the Isle of Patmos.  The map of Greece reminds us of New Testament times.

Photo: of Mars Hill, a solid marble rocky outcropping between the Agora (marketplace) of ancient Athens and the Acropolis.

The Areopagus (Mars Hill), where the Apostle Paul preached to the Athenians  Like many Christians, Monk Preston and Monk Linda also climbed this famous hill to stand a moment in the very spot where Paul once preached, when they visited here in 2001. It is composed of solid marble, and is very slippery in places where it has been polished by the passage of the untold millions of Christian pilgrims who have visited here in the past two thousand years.

"Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was stirred in him, when he saw the city wholly given to idolatry... And they took him and brought him unto Areopagus, saying, 'May we know what this new doctrine, whereof  thou speakest, is?'...Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars Hill and said, 'Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious...'" (For complete text, see: Acts 16:19-34).
