Find out how to do so on our page:

Plan of Salvation ______________

Tell others about Jesus like Aidan did:

Though not all Christians are called to the ministry of an Evangelist, we are all called by God to share our faith (witness) with those who are not Christians.  Some Bible verses that you will find helpful for doing this, and that you may want to commit to memory are found on other pages on our  web site (see: Memory Verses; 2nd Set: Salvation!, Plan of Salvation, and Statement of Faith). ______________

King Oswald asked Iona for Missionaries, and They Sent Him Aidan

Aidan became the enigmatic Irish Bishop who brought with him the Irish Christianity of Iona and seeded it in the landscape of Northumbria in England.  When King Oswald fought his first battle in 633, he erected a wooden cross before the battle near Hexham.  Once victory was his and the kingdom secured, he sent to Iona for a Bishop.  The King himself had been converted by the monks of St. Columba (Columcille) at Iona.  Aidan was selected and sent.  So began the mystical Celtic Christian influence in Anglo-Saxon England.  This program looks at Aidan's experience and development, his Irish role as Anmchara (soul friend) to the King, his spirituality and its inspiration for the modern world.

Our Comments:

"What we like about Aidan was his zeal for the lost, his humility, and his trust in God.  He was sent to Lindisfarne (Holy Island) because he wanted to share the Gospel with the pagan Angles (Angle-ish people - English people).  When given a horse by the King, he shortly thereafter, gave it away to a poor person.  He felt that walking would give him more opportunities to talk to others about Jesus, and also not set him apart, both socially and economically, from those to whom he desired to bring Christ.  Anyone interested in Aidan, Lindisfarne, or the Irish Celtic Monk missionaries to Europe, will enjoy and be blessed by this Documentary."
