We also use it as a "Vesting" prayer when putting on our Habits (Monk Robes). Our Habits symbolizing and reminding us of the spiritual "whole armor of God." The Habit's hood symbolizing the helmet of salvation, our belt, "the belt of truth" the scapular (the front knight-like piece connected to the hood), reminding us of "the breastplate of righteousness." Our footwear: "the preparation of the Gospel of peace." Our actual Celtic Cross Shield reminds us of "the shield of faith," and our Bibles of "the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God..." |
