The Promises of God:

"According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust."
-II Peter 1:3-4

God is Faithful Even When We Are Not:

"If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself." -II Timothy 2:13

Forgiveness and Cleansing; God's Peace:

"If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." -I John 1:8-9

"For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things." -I John 3:20

"There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus." -Romans 8:1

"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you.  Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." -John 14:27

Holiness/Godliness

"But as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, 'Be holy, for I am holy'." -I Peter 1:15-16

"What, know you not that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have of God, and you are not your own?  For you are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's." -I Corinthians 6:19-20

"God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.  Submit yourselves therefore to God.  Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.  Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you."  -James 4:6-8

(After Salvation) Created for Good Works

"How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him." -Acts 10:38

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast.  For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." -Ephesians 2:8-10

God's Will for Our Lives: Prayer and Thanksgiving:

"Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." -1Thessalonians 5:17-18

New Every Morning:

"It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness." -Lamentations 3:22-23

"This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." -Psalm 118:24

"Consecrate yourselves today to the LORD...that he may bestow upon you a blessing this day." -Exodus 32:29

Note: All of the Scripture Verses on this page are excellent Memory Verses, but for the purpose of this particular "teaching through Scripture Reading", I recommend beginning with the last three.

The peace of the Lord be with you always. -Monk Preston
