The Four Goals:
Ortho: right, correct. Praxis: practice, deeds, actions, activities. ___________________________________________________________
"For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that you might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding (Right Ministry); That you might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing (Right Life),
being fruitful in every good work (Right Practice),
and increasing in the knowledge of God (Right Belief);"
Right Practice (orthopraxis): Summarized by "Be ye holy; for I am holy." (I Peter 1:16), by The Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23), and by The Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:1-17). ___________________________________________________________
What Right Practice is not:
Right Practice plays no part whatsoever in repentance, receiving Christ by faith, and receiving forgiveness of your sins through Christ's complete Atonement by His shed Blood.
"And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise, grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace:" -Romans 11:6
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast." -Ephesians 2:8-9
What Right Practice is:
Right Practice is as important and necessary to being a Christian (living the Christian life) as Right Belief (orthodoxy). They are like the two sides of one coin. If either side is defaced, the coin (your Christian witness) has lost its value.
"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." -Ephesians 2:10
"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." -Matthew 5:16
Right Practice is the resulting evidence of living faith (as opposed to dead faith).
"Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: show me thy faith without thy works, and I will show you my faith by my works. Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble." -James 2:17-19 (Read these verses in context: James 2:8-26)
"...so that, even if some of them refuse to obey the word, they may be won over without a word through your conduct..." -I Peter 3:1
Set aside time to meditate upon (think deeply upon) all of the Scripture verses posted both above and below:
"But as he who has called you is holy, so be you holy in all manner of conduct, because it is written, 'Be ye holy; for I am holy'."
"What, know you not that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have of God, and you are not your own? For you are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's." -I Corinthians 6:19-20
"I beseech you therefore brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be you transformed, by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God." -Romans 12:1-2
The Fruit of the Spirit:
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law." -Galatians 5:22-23
The Summary of the Law / The Law of Love:
"And Jesus answered, 'The first of all the commandments is... The Lord our God is one Lord. And Thou shall love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shall love thy neighbor as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.'" -Mark 12:29-31
The Ten Commandments: (Memory Verses)
I am the LORD thy God. Thou shall have no other gods before me. Thou shall not make unto thee any graven image. Thou shall not bow down to them, nor serve them. Thou shall not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Honor thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land. Thou shall not kill. Thou shall not commit adultery. Thou shall not steal. Thou shall not bear false witness. Thou shall not covet anything that is thy neighbor's.
