Norman Grubb is the Founder of Inter-Varsity Fellowship and author of "Rees Howells, Intercessor" Copyright ©1952 Lutterworth Press Christian Literature Crusade; Fort Washington, Pennsylvania 19034 Back Cover Photo Credit: SuperStock, Inc. _______________ Have you received Christ as your Lord and Saviour? Plan of Salvation _______________ Tell others about Jesus like Norman Grubb and Rees Howells did: Though not all Christians are called to full-time Christian Ministry, we are all called by God to share our faith (witness) with those who are not Christians. Some Bible verses that you will find helpful for doing this, and that you may want to commit to memory are found on other pages on our web site (see: Memory Verses; 2nd Set: Salvation!, Plan of Salvation, and Statement of Faith). ______________

By Norman Grubb "They prayed through the situations in Dunkirk, the Battle of Britain, D-Day, and the involvement of Russia in the war and for many other situations including for the establishment of the State of Israel." "He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God." -Romans 4:20 _______________________________ Excerpt From the Book: "Next morning it was not so hard to part with our parents, because we had to walk to the station without the money! We felt sure that it would come on the station platform, but no, the time came for the train to leave... ...The Spirit then spoke to me and said, 'If you had money, what would you do?' 'Take my place in the queue at the booking office,' I said. 'Well, are you not preaching that my promises are equal to current coin? You had better take your place in the queue.' So there was nothing I could do except obey. It was most glorious, and only a foretaste of what the Lord would do in Africa, if we would obey...We were singing all the way to London! There were about a dozen people before me. There they were passing by the booking office one by one. The devil kept telling me, 'Now you have only a few people in front of you, and when your turn comes, you will have to walk through. You have preached much about Moses and the Red Sea in front, and the Egyptians behind, but now you are the one who is shut in.' 'Yes, shut in,' I answered, 'but like Moses, I'll be gloriously led out!' When there were only two before me, a man stepped out of the crowd, and said, 'I'm sorry I can't wait any longer, but I must open my shop.' He said good-bye and put thirty schillings in my hand! It was most glorious, and only a foretaste of what the Lord would do in Africa, if we would obey...We were singing all the way to London!" World Events Were Affected by His Prayers Rees Howells was a man peculiarly taught of God: one who learned the Bible as the Spirit made him live it. Every chapter of this biography is full of drama and light, showing how he faced the implications of an entire surrender, learned to love the unlovely, found the key to prevailing prayer, became the channel of a mighty revival in Africa, was taught the principals of divine healing, and progressed ever further in faith until ____________________________________________ See Also: A Diary of Revival: The Story of the 1904 Welsh Awakening ____________________________________________ |

"This is one of the best books about prayer ever written, one of the most inspiring, the one of the books that has most affected our lives, and will most affect your life. That said, it is not really a book on prayer, at all. It is a biography of a man who prayed, and how the Lord answered his prayers. How the Lord drew Rees Howells, a Welsh Miner in the early 1900's, closer to Himself; making him a key figure in the great Welsh Revival, sending him to Africa as a Missionary, and calling him to found a faith Bible School and a home for Jewish children who were refugees and orphans. Rees Howells was inspired by the life of George Müller, to lead the same sort of life of prayer and faith. This book shows how God brought Rees into a life of faith so intense, so far beyond that of the average Christian, that we are just left standing in a hushed silence, a reverent awe of God the Father and Jesus Christ, in the presence of the Holy Spirit." -The Prayer Foundation ™ ____________________________________________ Copyright © 2001 S.G.P.
